Spring Break - preschool style

Cain has been on Spring Break this week, it's his first ever Spring Break. I really hoped to start a tradition of doing something fun with the family for Spring Break. I never did anything fun - that I remember anyway - when I was in school. We also never did any family vacations - something I hope to do with my children now that they are getting a little bit older. Anyway so we tried to do a few fun things and this is what we came up with.

First we did a big family day for bowling. It was the first time my kids have ever been bowling and they liked it. Carly totally didn't get it but she enjoyed walking around the bowling alley.

Cain's got moves.

Carly after she pushed her ball down the ramp.

Family shot - this is Chris' family - his grandma, cousins, aunts, and sister, niece and nephew.

We spent Easter weekend up north with our families and enjoyed a nice lunch at my Mom's. We came back home and Cain had his first t-ball practice and my Dad was able to come down for that. It was so nice having my Dad here! He helped out with Carly, who only wanted to wander and wander during the practice, so that Chris and I could watch and be there for Cain. After practice we went and got ice cream (which was on our Spring Break to do list) even though it was freezing out. My Dad spent the night and had a sleep over with Cain. He was super excited, as we pulled out his trundle bed, that Grandpa was going to sleep in his room. Haha.

Then we went to the zoo - which was the last thing to do on our list. It was a little bit windy and could have been a tad bit warmer for my liking but it was a great afternoon. Cain remembers the zoo very well, he's been there multiple times in his life, but Carly obviously didn't remember at all. She wasn't super impressed. All she wanted to do or cared about was walking. She didn't want to be in the stroller and she didn't want to be held. If she was walking she was happy.

Cain: Standing a cool structure at the zoo.
Carly: Checking out the camels.

I plan on doing a full post about our trip to the zoo.

Easter 2014

I kind of skipped right over Easter this year. We had a great weekend up North. Here are a few pictures of our Easter...
looking for the hidden eggs at Aunt Wanda's house
found the Easter baskets in the basement
I knew the bracelets would be a hit :)
Trying to get a picture of these two is difficult.
The best family picture I could get.

1st T-ball practice

Cain's first t-ball practice was yesterday. It was so cute. He did so well. He was a little nervous when we got there but quickly warmed right up. He wanted to make sure we were watching him every second. He hollered from the field about 10 times "I love you Mom" or "I love you Dad". My heart melted and I was so proud of him. He gave me a million thumbs up. He listened to the coach and did what was asked of him. He hit the ball and ran to first base - the coach told him when the next person hit the ball he needed to run to second base and Cain yells from first base "I know that, my Dad told me". LOL It was so cute and got a chuckle out of the parents. He is the smallest guy on the team (as usual) but he does so great! He had to go potty twice during practice and yelled it for all to hear.  I want to remember him like this always and forever. My sweet sweet little boy full of love and energy.

Cain: chocolate milk mustache, stained shirt, won't smile, but he loves his name egg.
Carly: just woke up from her nap, stained shirt, messy hair, super intrigued with the colorful egg.

A real blog post!

Oh hey it's like a real blog post and stuff.
I will not be sharing any photos of my children today but I will be discussing what's been going on in our little house lately.

First of all today, April freaking 15th, I woke to snow on the ground! I feel like karate chopping Mother Nature in the fucking face today. Last week we were outside in short sleeves riding bikes and playing. Ridiculous!

Today was supposed to be Cain's first t-ball practice :(  I can't wait to see him out there playing. I got an email from the coach about what to bring to the first practice and included on the list was a protective cup. Say what?! I didn't even think about that. It never even crossed my mind. Minus ten points on my "boy mom" score sheet. I made Chris take him to get that figured out while I was at work. Do they make cups that small - apparently so. When I told Cain he was going to go with Dad and get a cup, he was all like we have lots of cups we don't need any new ones and then I had to explain it and I'm pretty sure it just went totally over his head.

I am looking forward to this weekend. Easter - up north - with the fam! It feels like we haven't been up north in forever and I am excited :) I am going to color eggs this week with the kids to take with us. I love having egg hunts, it's so fun to see the kids get so excited. Carly is at such a great age for this stuff because it's all new to her and she is starting to "get it".

I want to get a new car. We've been discussing it. I think it will happen soon.

We just got memberships to the zoo and I can't wait to go. We really love the zoo.

Cain has a field trip to the zoo in May.

He just had a field trip to 'Pump It Up' and it was an unorganized mess. It's a bounce house place if you don't know. It was pure chaos. Most of the parents sat along the wall on their phones, not paying attention to what was going on at all. Me, and like five other parents, got our old asses in the bounce houses and obstacle course things. I felt so out of shape!  Let's hope the zoo trip is a little more organized.

I am finally having "hair cut regret". It took awhile but it's now sinking in. It always does.

Still loving our new couch though - no regret there.

My sister might be visiting this summer again :) Looking forward to that.

Carly's birthday is in 61 days. I'm excited to throw her a birthday party! Her birthday is on Father's Day so I'm not sure where we will be having her party yet - still have to figure that one out.

Chris is going to Austin in June. I'm super sad I am not going. I love Austin. I love vacations really.

The song The Girl by City and Colour is on and I love this song.

I went to a jewelry making class a few weeks ago - it was fun and really got me inspired to do more.

So when someone asks me what I like to do I'm always like ummm....I draw a blank. I'm not a super boring person I promise, it's just that I don't really get much of a chance to do anything. I go grocery shopping by myself and consider it a day out. But I like to travel, I like to make jewelry, I like to paint, I like to go shopping, I like to go to the movies - shows - concerts - sporting events. I like baseball. I like to get pedicures. I like to go thrifting and go to yard sales, I like to veg out on the couch and watch tv and eat popcorn. I like to stretch and pretend I know how to do yoga. I like photography and love taking pictures and playing around with my camera. There just isn't time for all that when you spend the majority of your day making meals, doing laundry, wiping noses, wiping butts, drying tears, and feeling like you want to rip your hair out while feeling like you couldn't love them more at the same time. It's weird ya'll.

Cain: busting out the bike for the first time - we are loving this warm weather! Also he told me he could ride his bike himself and I should just wait by the house. Haha. Sorry kid. I did stand at our driveway and let him ride by himself on the stretch of sidewalk between our two neighbors driveways. We live on a pretty busy street so it always makes me nervous.

Carly: loves brushing her teeth all the time! The other day she had a really hard time falling asleep for nap. I think this is about the time that Cain started skipping naps and I am really crossing my fingers she isn't going to start doing the same.

I finally got my new camera battery in :)

Cain: "this is my werewolf face"

Also this week on the way home from school one day:
Cain - We have that rock wall in the gym but we aren't supposed to climb on it.
Me - oh ok
Cain - You have to be big to climb on it, it's only for big kids.
Me - uh huh
Cain - Like only 5 year olds. If you are 5 then you can climb on it.
Me - ok
Cain - I think that is the rule. Yeah it is the rule.
Me - ok
Cain - Well actually I think I just made that up.

Carly : She just woke up from a nap and wanted a snack. I can't believe how tall she is getting. Her vocabulary is expanding so much everyday.
